THE ENERGY BILL RELIEF SCHEME (EBRS)

The Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS)

The Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) has been introduced to support non-domestic energy users including businesses, public sector organisations such as hospitals, and charities.

As a customer of F&S Energy, we are required to provide a discount to electricity unit rates according to the rules laid out in The Energy Bill Relief Scheme Regulations 2022. The EBRS discount applies for six months covering the consumption period 01 October 2022 to 31st March 2023.

The scheme will be available to customers on a non-domestic electricity contract who are:

  • On fixed price contracts that were agreed on or after 1 December 2021

  • New Fixed Contracts

  • Out of Contract or Deemed Contracts (Variable Price Contract)

  • Flexible Contracts

Eligible customers will receive a discount on their electricity unit prices, calculated by comparing the estimated wholesale portion of the unit price that would be paid this winter against a baseline ‘Government supported price’. The discount will be applied automatically to your invoices. Please be weary of claims or scams by third parties that request your bank details.

For all non-domestic energy users in Great Britain this government supported price has been set at:

21.1p/kWh for electricity

FAQs

1. Do I need to do anything to apply for the discount?

We will inform you by email of your eligibility for the scheme and the type of contract you fall under. Where you use a TPI or broker to procure our supply of electricity we will send an email to them informing them of this. Eligible customers will automatically have the discount applied to their bill as set out by the Government.

Customers should be aware of their obligations under the legislative guidance in relation to anti-abuse of the Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) by referring to the guidance (same link as above)

2. How will the discount appear on my invoice?

The discount will be applied in p/kWh and will be shown as a separate line as a negative number clearly itemised.

3. I have a Fixed Price Contract - what date will be used to determine the discount?

You will find the Price-Fix Date on your contract. This is in the top right corner of your signed electricity contract and called Date of Offer.

4. How will the discount be applied to Fixed Price Contracts?

Eligible Contracts will have a discount applied which will be the difference between the Government Supported Price and the relevant electricity reference wholesale price for that day. The Date of Offer on your contract will determine the relevant electricity reference wholesale price used. If the discount reduces your weighted average day and night rate below the Government supported price the discount is capped to the Government supported price.

5. How will the discount be applied to my Flexible Price Contract?

Eligible Contracts will have a discount applied which depends on the difference between the Government supported price and the weighted average price of locked and unlocked electricity hedges. If the discount reduces your rate below the Government supported price the discount is capped to the Government supported price.

6. I am on a Deemed or Out of Contract - will I receive the discount?

First of all we ask you to get in touch with us to discuss placing you on a contract. Please email us on
info@fs-energy.co.uk

However, if you are on a deemed or out of contract then we will apply the Maximum discount of 34.5p/kWh. If the discount reduces your rate below the Government supported price the discount is capped to the Government supported price.

7. I want to opt out of the scheme – what should i do?

You can opt out of the scheme and therefore choose to have no discount applied. You can subsequently withdraw your opt out notice but this cannot take effect before the date you send notice for the withdrawal. Please contact us if you wish to opt out on
